Zoonotic Diseases

Zoonotic Disease

We work to educate the public about vector-borne diseases, including Lyme disease, rabies, Hantavirus, and West Nile Virus. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the risks associated with animal and insect-borne diseases and providing guidance on effective pest control measures for control of pests such as rodents, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and ticks. Through our investigations of human-animal interactions, we strive to prevent the transmission of disease and enhance community health and safety.

Rabies is categorized as a zoonotic disease, meaning that it is a disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans, or from humans to animals. Although it is not as prevalent in the U.S. as in other parts of the world, rabies is still a dangerous threat.

If you feel you’ve been exposed to Rabies through contact with an infected animal, please seek medical attention immediately.
