Living Environment

Through multiple programs, the health department works to ensure the environment that we work and play are safe and promote healthy well-being.  Environmental Health Specialists review plans and conduct inspections on facilities such as schools, swimming pools, waterparks, natural bathing beaches, etc.

WATER RECREATION

The health department conducts routine inspections of all swimming pools and spas in Lincoln County.  Inspections include water chemistry, pool safety, markers and borders.  This is done to assure that the water facilities provide a safe and healthy environment for their patrons.  We can also provide assistance to home owned pools with safety and water quality issues.

RADON

Radon causes thousands of lung cancer deaths each year in the United States.  Lincoln County has been classed as a “Zone 2” area according to an extensive radon monitoring program conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). According to the EPA, any home which exceeds 4 pCi/L should be mitigated.  The health department can provide information to home owners regarding health effects, testing services, and home mitigation techniques.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY

Indoor air quality in providing a safe and healthy environment.  Poor indoor air can lead to health effect caused by bacteria, poor carbon dioxide levels, molds, etc.  The health department works to assist with complaints and provides technical assistance regarding indoor air.
