Flu vaccine (flu shot) is now becoming available across the state for everyone aged 6 months and older, including pregnant women. Similar to last year, the nasal spray vaccine is not recommended for use by anyone of any age due to concerns over its effectiveness at preventing illness over the past few seasons.
Annual flu vaccination is the best method of prevention against illness, followed by covering your cough/proper hand washing and staying home from school or work when you are sick. The flu shot takes up to two weeks to provide full protection and is now available at pharmacies and clinic locations throughout the state.
All children in Washington receive vaccines at no cost through age 18. The provider may charge a fee to give the vaccine, called an administration fee. You can ask for this fee to be waived if you cannot afford it.
Our local providers are teaming up to KNOCK out the flu by offering flu shot clinics. Please support your local providers and keep your families and communities protected.
