County Commissioners Set Meetings On Redistricting Plan
Based on 2010 census figures for Lincoln County voting precincts, the Board of County Commissioners is currently in the process of redistricting the three County Commissioner Districts. In addition, Lincoln County has been moved from Legislative District 7 to Legislative District 13 by the State Redistricting Plan.
A public information meeting on the proposed changes in the Commissioner Districts has been scheduled for February 15, 2012 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers at the Lincoln County Courthouse, Lower Level, 450 Logan, Davenport. Written public comment regarding the proposed changes will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. February 15, 2012 by Shelly Johnston, Lincoln County Auditor, at P O Box 28, Davenport, WA 99122 or by e-mail at sjohnston@co.lincoln.wa.us.
A Public Hearing to consider the proposal will be held at 9:30 a.m. during the regularly scheduled Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in the Commissioners Chambers.
The redistricting proposal will move the following precincts: East Larene precinct will move from Commissioner District 3 (currently held by Rob Coffman) to Commissioner District 2 (currently held by Scott Hutsell); Davenport Rural precinct, Gravelle precinct and South Reardan precinct will move from Commissioner District 2 to Commissioner District 1 (currently held by Dennis Bly).
With these changes, the population of the three districts (according to the 2010 census) will be as follows: District 1 – 3535; District 2 – 3507; and District 3 – 3528. The law requires that the population of the districts be within 10 percent of each other.
